Janice DeMarino

“Art making has always been in my life.” Growing up in the Bronx, DeMarino went on to earn an MFA at Hunter College and taught art in the private sector from 1994 to 2020.The artist is the recipient of several awards to study papermaking at Dieu Donné Papermill, and for encaustic projects at R & F Paints in NY and in Anversa, Italy. Women’s Studio Workshop also awarded her a fellowship to create handmade paper pieces in their studio facilities. DeMarino’s work has been exhibited in galleries and independent venues throughout the US and abroad, including Longyear Gallery and The Roxbury Arts Center in upstate New York. Recent exhibitions include shows at The Pelham Art Center, Hudson Park Gallery, and the Alumni Gallery at St. Joseph’s University. She states, “As a painter and papermaker, I have been involved in exploring expression through non-representational artwork and continue to be fascinated by the idea of spatial ambiguity.”
