I have always been creative, and my dad inspired and expanded my creativity with photography. He loved photographing the family, and gave me my first camera when I was in my early teens. That camera got me hooked on taking pictures.
My creativity sent me into Fashion Design. I graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology with an Associates Degree in Fashion Design, and later earned a BS Degree from F.I.T. I worked for over 10 years as a Children’s Wear Designer, and taught Fashion Design at a private technical school in New York. I was able to transfer all my skills to the new emerging area of Technical Design in the fashion industry. I was Senior Technical Designer, and Senior Technical Design Manager for J Crew, Gap Inc., and Talbots.
Throughout my professional career I pursued my interest in photography, learning various aspects of the art, at The International Center of Photography and F.I.T. I traveled extensively and my photos represent some of the fascinating places I visited. I like taking photos of everything, the usual and unusual. It’s about how I see what’s around me.
Since retiring, I have been able to devote more time to growing my art and attending photography workshops in Italy. I am now also learning watercolor painting.
Five years ago, I moved to Riverdale after living 30 plus years in the Chelsea area of Manhattan. I am excited to join the Riverdale Art Association, and happy to become part of the creative community in Riverdale.
